The Tertiary/Cretaceous of the Vøring Basin Norwegian North Sea (NE105)
A Chemostratigraphic evaluation of 11 wells from the Cretaceous/Tertiary of the Norwegian Vøring Basin.
Application: Resolves discrepancies between some biostratigraphers and the NPD. Provides an independent sub-regional chemostratigraphic correlation framework for the Cretaceous–Lower Tertiary. Provides TOC estimates. Geochemical characterisation and correlation of a unit straddling the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary.
Quads: 6505-06, 6605, 6607, 6610, 6706-07.
Stratigraphic Range: Hauterivian to Late Maastrichtian (Cretaceous), Early Paleocene to Miocene/Pliocene (Tertiary).
Techniques: Chemostratigraphy, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Heavy Mineral Analysis (HMA), Total Organic Carbon (TOC).
