Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP)

Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission and Mass Spectrometry (ICP -OES & ICP-MS) analysis is the ‘gold standard’ against which all other whole rock geochemical techniques are measured. It yields the best possible dataset for chemostratigraphic studies in terms of number of elements, limits of determination and data precision. Data is acquired on small sample volumes (typically 0.25g), therefore ICP analysis is perfect for old wells where cuttings sample preservation may be poor.

Our ICP data also provides a perfect element array for mineral modelling, allowing bulk mineralogy to be determined on all samples analaysed as part of a chemostratigraphic study.

Although not portable, ICP preparation and analysis can provide a rapid turnaround service, provided samples can be delivered to either our UK or US locations.
