Portable Solutions (XRF, FTIR and MS)
While elemental (via ICP and XRF ), mineralogical (via XRD, petrography and FTIR) and magnetic data can be gathered in the laboratory, Chemostrat also supply a portable solutions toolkit that incorporates HHXRF, Benchtop XRF, Benchtop FTIR and HHMS.
Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence
Recent advances in XRF technology have led to small hand held units. These portable units are restricted in their analytical capabilities but do enable very high resolution geochemical data down cored sections to be gathered very quickly and without any sample destruction. HHXRF units are particularly useful in shale resource plays proving rapid lithological information, facies data and a means to calculate RBi.
Benchtop X-Ray Fluorescence
Our benchtop XRF systems are fully portable, yet provide data of similar quality to larger laboratory-based instruments. They can be used to provide data directly from cuttings samples with no sample destruction in storage facilities or at well-site.
Benchtop Fourier Transform InfraRed
Our FTIR instruments are robust, have small footprints (c. A4), weigh <10kg, lack of moving parts and have a very simple user interface. They are ideally suited to acquisition of mineralogical and TOC data in remote locations (core stores, in the field or at well-site) and are capable of obtaining data quickly (click for more info)
Handheld Magnetic Susceptibility
Magnetic susceptibility data can be gathered very quickly by direct analysis of a core, with up to 1000 data points per day acquired. MS data compliments the HHXRF elemental data, often providing additional information that can be integrated into stratigraphic correlations.
