Shale Resource Plays
Chemostrat provide an array of services that help clients maximize their understanding of Shale Resource reservoirs.
Standard Stratigraphic Services
- Standard laboratory service for multiwell studies aimed at developing stratigraphic frameworks, understanding temporal and spatial changes in mineralogy, anoxia and TOC.
- Rapid turnaround service for single wells within a multi well study where results are required with 5-10 working days
- Hot shot service for active wells where results are required within 24-36 hours
- Well-site service, where data are obtained at the well-head
Enhanced Stratigraphic Services
- Stable isotope analysis, carbon and oxygen determination on carbonate and carbon determination on organic matter
- Re-Os geochronology
- Magnetic susceptibility stratigraphy
Reservoir characterisation services
- Determination of lithology, mineralogy and TOC from elemental data
- Calculation of rock brittleness from elemental data
- Calibration of log responses using elemental data
- Determination of rock mechanical properties from elemental data
Instrumentation
- ICP OES / MS typically used for standard laboratory and rapid turnaround services
- XRF WD and ED typically used for hotshot services
- LECO used to determine Sulphur
- LECO used to provide direct measurement of TOC
- XRD used to provide direct measurement for bulk and clay minerals
- FTiR used to determine crystalline and non-crystalline phases
Experience
Chemostrat have carried out extensive work on many of North America Shale Resource Plays including the Barnett Shale, the Woodford Shale, the Haynesville Formation, the Eagle Ford Formation, the Marcellus Shale, the Montney Formation, Muskwa Formation and the Exshaw Formation.
We are also currently involved in the early stages of many shale resource projects World-wide, including Europe, the Middle East, Argentina and China.
